The National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) is an advocacy group headquartered in Washington, D.C., United States, with 10 additional offices across the country. It is the nation's largest manufacturing industrial trade association, representing 11,000 small and large manufacturing companies in every industrial sector and in all 50 states.〔(About the NAM - National Association of Manufacturers )〕 ==Policy issues== The NAM's policy issue work is focused in the areas of labor, employment, health care, energy, climate, corporate finance, tax, bilateral trade, multilateral trade, export controls, technology, regulatory and infrastructure policy.〔(Policy Issues - National Association of Manufacturers )〕 According to Bloomberg, Duke Energy did not renew its membership with the NAM partly because of differences over climate policy.〔(Duke Energy to Leave Trade Group Over Climate Policy )〕 NAM recently partnered with the National Council of La Raza to support legalizing 11 million illegal immigrants and increasing annual immigration numbers "because it provides the skilled workers manufacturers need, and it is simply the right thing to do."〔http://www.nam.org/Communications/Articles/2013/08/Manufacturers-Launch-Radio-Ads-in-Support-of-Immigration-Reform.aspx#〕 According to NAM, manufacturing employs nearly 12 million workers, contributes more than $1.6 trillion to the U.S. economy annually, is the largest driver of economic growth in the nation and accounts for the lion's share of private sector research and development.〔
